Menstrual disorders/ PCOS

Menstrual disorder is an irregular / abnormal condition in a woman's menstrual cycle.


Causes

Disorders of cycle length:
-Irregular menstruation;(Variation in menstrual cycle length of more than eight days).
-Amenorrhea;(Absence of a menstrual period in a woman of reproductive age).
-Oligomenorrhea;(Infrequent, often light menstrual periods, intervals over 35 days).
-Polymenorrhea;(Cycles with intervals of 21 days or less).


Disorders of Flow;

-Menorrhagia; (Heavy and prolonged menstrual period).

-Hypomenorrhea; (Abnormally light menstrual periods).


Disorders of ovulation

-Anovulation; (Absence of ovulation, causes irregularity of menstrual periods, cessation of periods (secondary amenorrhea) or excessive bleeding (dysfunctional uterine bleeding).

-Oligoovulation ;( Infrequent or irregular ovulation, with cycles of over 36 days or less than 8 cycles a year).


Dysmenorrhea;

Menstrual periods that is associated with either sharp, intermittent pain or dull, aching pain, usually in lower abdomen.

Endometrial ablation

To remove or destroy the endometrial lining of the womb. This procedure is usually recommended for women who suffer from excessive or prolonged bleeding during their menstrual cycle and have completed their family; the procedure is most commonly done on an outpatient basis. Birth control is recommended following the procedure (Novasure, Thermachoice).


Hysterectomy

Hysterectomy is surgical removal of the womb.



Total Hysterectomy ;( Removing the body and neck of the womb).



Partial Hysterectomy; (Removing the body and leaving the neck of the womb).

PCOS


Polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the most common female endocrine disorders. PCOS is a complex disorder of uncertain cause but there is strong evidence that it can genetic.

 Symptoms of PCOS
  • Symptoms In 5% to 10% of women of reproductive age (12–45 years old).
  • One of the leading causes of female subfertility and the most frequent endocrine problem in women of reproductive age.

  • Restoration of Fertility
  • Treatment of Hirsutism or Acne
